Mobile Application Development

An App Is a Commitment, Not a Feature List

A mobile app that launches with every feature a stakeholder wanted, but no clear reason for a user to open it twice, fails quietly — not at launch, but three months later when retention numbers come in. DO Media designs and builds mobile applications for clients across Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the wider GCC with retention and real usage as the design brief, not a feature checklist assembled to satisfy every internal stakeholder at once.

We build native iOS and Android apps, as well as cross-platform products where that's the right technical fit, for clients ranging from e-commerce and fintech to logistics and government-adjacent services — a category where Saudi Arabia in particular has seen rapid growth under Vision 2030's push toward digital-first services.

Mobile Application Development — Our Approach

Our Approach

One core use case before ten features. Every app project starts by identifying the single reason a user opens the app in the first place, then builds the experience around making that action fast and obvious — additional features are layered in once that core loop is proven, not bundled in from day one out of caution.

Built for the region's actual operating conditions. For clients serving Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and the wider GCC, we design and build with local payment gateways (including mada and STC Pay for the Saudi market), Arabic RTL interfaces, and performance in lower-connectivity conditions as first-class requirements, not edge cases handled late in development.

Compliance and store readiness from the start. App store guidelines, data protection requirements, and — where relevant — cultural and regulatory content considerations specific to the Saudi and GCC markets are built into the development process, not discovered during a rejected app store submission.

Mobile Application Development — What's Included

What's Included

  • Product strategy & scoping defining the app's core use case, target platform(s), and MVP feature set before development begins.
  • UX/UI design for mobile native iOS and Android design patterns, with full RTL Arabic support where required.
  • Native & cross-platform development iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin), and cross-platform frameworks where that best fits the project's scale and budget.
  • Backend & API development scalable backend infrastructure, third-party integrations, and secure data handling.
  • Regional payment integration mada, STC Pay, and other GCC-relevant payment gateways alongside international options.
  • App Store Optimization (ASO) store listing optimization in Arabic and English to improve discoverability on the App Store and Google Play.
  • QA & testing device and platform testing across the models most common in the Jordanian and Saudi markets.
  • Post-launch support & maintenance updates, security patches, and feature iteration based on real usage data.
Mobile Application Development — Our Process

Our Process

Discovery & Scoping. We define the core use case, target users, and platform strategy, and scope an MVP feature set that gets a real product in front of users quickly rather than delaying launch for a fully-loaded first version.

Design. UX flows and UI design are built for native mobile patterns on each platform, with RTL Arabic layouts designed from the wireframe stage where relevant.

Development. Front-end and backend development proceeds in sprints with regular builds for review, so issues are caught early rather than surfacing in a single large integration at the end.

Launch & Support. Store submission, QA across target devices, and a post-launch monitoring and update plan carry the app from launch into its first real usage cycles.

Where We See App Projects Fail

Scope built for every stakeholder instead of the core user. Apps that try to satisfy every internal wish list at once launch late, over budget, and confusing to use. We scope an MVP around the one action that matters most and expand from there based on real usage, not internal debate.

RTL and Arabic treated as a translation task. Flipping an English interface for Arabic without redesigning navigation and information hierarchy for right-to-left reading produces an app that technically works in Arabic but feels foreign to use. We design RTL layouts natively from the wireframe stage.

Regional payment and compliance requirements discovered late. Realizing during QA or app store submission that a Saudi payment gateway isn't integrated, or that content doesn't meet local app store or regulatory guidelines, causes costly last-minute delays. We scope these requirements during discovery, not after development is complete.

No plan for what happens after launch. An app that ships and is then left unmaintained quickly falls behind on security patches, OS compatibility, and evolving user expectations. Post-launch support is scoped as part of the project from the outset, not an afterthought once the initial build ships.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both — the right choice depends on the project's performance requirements, budget, and timeline. We recommend native development for performance-critical or platform-specific features, and cross-platform frameworks where speed to market and shared codebase efficiency matter more.
